Mother's Day 2011

For Mother's Day this year the girls decided to wear their matching Easter dresses.  They were so cute!

 I had bought 4 blank canvases on sale at Hobby Lobby a few weeks earlier and asked the kids to each paint something for me for Mother's Day.

 Here is Molly beginning to paint.

 Abby was very excited and got into it quickly.

 Thomas decided to turn his random dots  into flowers.

It was a great Mother's Day, the kids made me breakfast in bed again and that is always a special treat!  I love being a wife and Mother and I could not possibly ask for better kids or a better husband!!

Ballet Recital

The girls had their ballet recital on May 23rd. It was really cute and they both did a "great" job!! After they came out of the holding room, we gave them both flowers and a necklace with a ballet slipper pendant.

They both got trophies for attendance, Molly had perfect attendance and Abby had near perfect attendance. They are very proud of their trophies!!

Key Lime Pie

Last week HEB had a pretty good deal on key limes. I really like key lime pie, so this sounded like a great chance to try making some.

The first step was to get busy squeezing limes.

Once I started squeezing limes, I realized just how little juice each of these tiny limes has in it. The recipe called for 1/2 cup of lime juice, which took nearly 2 lbs of limes to make.

Adding sweetened condensed milk and egg yolks to the lime juice produced the filling for the pie. For this pie we left it its natural color, instead of dyeing it green.

After baking the pie, I added some whipped cream, and it was ready to eat.

This pie lasted almost 2 days before we finished eating it all.

Molly eats a Warhead

Molly got a Warhead candy (VERY SOUR) in a candy bag from a birthday party. Tonight, she chose that as her dessert. Here's what happens...

Brain Dissection

In Abby's gifted class they got to dissect a sheep's brain. She had alot of fun and her classmates did, too.

Here is Abby with her friend, Emma. They are in their regular class and gifted class together. In this picture they were holding the brain to see how much it weighed.

Molly's fan incident

The other night Molly was playing in her room like she always does when she should be sleeping. Well, she has a fan on her floor that we use for white noise so that she sleeps better. This particular night she started screaming like she was really hurt! Toby went to check on her and she was holding her head and pointing at the fan. He brought her downstairs to me and went to look at the fan. while he was gone, she pulled herself together enough to tell me that the fan got her hair. A few minutes later Toby comes down with the fan and this is what we found wrapped around the base of the blades. I could not find any bald spot or even redness on her head, so we gave her some tylenol and when she was all calmed down she went back to bed. By the way, we moved the fan from the floor to on top of her dresser!!
